The more perceptive of you might detect that this is not a real ship. It is a model built by one of the IOS (International Offshore Society) of model makers. It is the Arild Viking in the wonderful Viking colour scheme of black and yellow stripes, probably a UT704 MkIII, which originally entered service in about 1985 as the Schelde.

Your scribe came across it when at Christmas 1985 it took over from us, on the Star Sirius (a UT734), looking after a semi-submersible 60 miles north of the northernmost point of the United Kingdom.
