We often see photographs of seismic vessels at work, usually taken from aircraft and because they are mostly supplied by support vessels they seldom come into port. So for a change here is the Polarcus Amani a Ulstein SX 134 built probably in about 2011. Because of their requirement to tow large numbers of seismic streamers they require considerable power. this class have bit 10000 bhp available giving them a bollard pull of 135 tons, giving it the ability to tow an amazing 12 streamers - each one several kilometres long. This particular ship was bareboated to Sovcomflot in early 2017.

The photograph was taken by Paul Moar in Shetland in 2012 and posted here on 8th February 2018.
